Most “best NFT platform” lists are written once and never checked again. Ours isn’t. Behind this site and its sister publications sits a maintained registry: 410 records across seven site registries, each one tracked to a status and — in 92% of cases — backed by a named, checkable source.
This page is the short version of what’s inside, and the rules we hold it to.
What we track#
Each registry record covers a platform, game, collection or service — its status, the chain or venue it lives on, and the evidence for that status. The current spread:
| Site | Records | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| NFT Trading Cards | 166 | Card collections and card-game platforms |
| NFT Video Games | 165 | Blockchain games and game platforms |
| NFT Marketplace | 30 | Marketplaces and trading venues |
| NFT Gaming | 23 | Gaming ecosystems |
| NFT Collectibles | 10 | Collectible platforms and tools |
| NFT Tickets | 10 | Ticketing platforms |
| NFT Basketball | 6 | Basketball collectibles |
Records aren’t just “on the list” — each carries a status: active, shut_down, sunset, paused, early_access, in_development, pivoted, degraded, or unknown when evidence doesn’t yet meet the bar. Today 56% of the 410 are verifiably active; 16% are shut down; 17% are unknown — records we won’t call either way until the evidence says so.
Across the registries, 454 entities are cross-linked so the same platform appearing on two sites stays one entity, not two duplicates.
The rules we hold it to#
- Two-source rule. A status change (live → dead, dead → revived) needs evidence from more than one source before it’s recorded. One marketing tweet isn’t a relaunch.
- Append-only history. Every status transition is written to a permanent log with its evidence attached — nothing is silently rewritten. In the first observation window (20 September – 7 October 2026), 58 transitions were recorded, including one platform that pivoted, revived and shut down again inside a fortnight.
- Scheduled refresh. Every record has a freshness schedule; overdue records surface as refresh work rather than quietly going stale.
- “Unknown” is a valid answer. If we can’t verify it, the record says so — we’d rather show you the gap than fill it with a guess.
Why it matters to you#
When a guide on this site says a marketplace is active, charges a certain fee, or shut down last year, that’s the registry talking — not a claim copied from another list. It’s also what powers our data reporting, starting with the inaugural State of NFTs report, which we update as the registry grows.
